After acceptance into the CASA program, the child advocate completes 24 hours of a comprehensive training program taught by the CASA Advisory Committee.There are additional hours of internship including site visits for courtroom observation and Case Reviews (Note: “Case Review” has now been officially changed to “60 Day Mandatory Review” and “ILP Case Review” has been officially changed to “ST 60 Day Mandatory Review”.) Continuing education training of at least 12 hours per year is required for all CASA’s. In completing the CASA training program, you will: Gain practical knowledge of your roles and responsibilities as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).. Examine major issues related to your work as a CASA. Practice the skills required for a CASA.
